All of these 8 ingredients are very healthy for you. I will explain what each one is as well some of the benefits of each one.

3. Cocoa Powder

Cocoa powder is made from crushing cocoa beans and removing the fat (cocoa butter). Cocoa is a great source of polyphenols which offer a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect. Cocoa is also known to help with better blood flow, lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

4. Tahini or Nut Butter

Nut ButterTahini is a thick sauce made from crushed sesame seeds and oil. If you don’t have tahini, any nut butter like almond butter or all-natural peanut butter will work great too. It is known to be easier for people to digest than peanut butter and almond butter. It’s also a well-known ingredient found in hummus.

Tahini is full of healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. It’s not only rich in antioxidants, but it may also decrease the risk of diabetes and heart diseases, cancer and help protect the liver and kidneys. 1 tablespoon proves 90 calories, 3 grams of protein, 8 grams of fat, 3 grams of carbs, and 1 gram of fiber.

5. Dark Chocolate Chips

Dark Chocolate Chips

Dark Chocolate is made from the seed of a cocoa tree and is considered one of the best sources of antioxidants in the world. They also may improve blood flow and lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol levels, protect your skin from the sun and improve brain functions.

A 100 grams bar will provide 11 grams of fiber and 29 grams of sugar. Dark chocolate is a better alternative to milk chocolate as milk chocolate has a whopping 56 grams of sugar per 100 grams.

7. Hemp Seeds

Hemp Seeds

Hemp Seeds are probably my #1 favorite go-to superfood and help give me tons of energy. They come from seeds of a hemp plant and only contain trace amounts of THC; therefore, they will not get you high. They are rich in essential fatty acids omega-3 and omega-6 and plant protein. They may reduce the risk of heart disease, help with skin issues, help with PMS symptoms, and aid in digestion.

8. Cinnamon

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a delicious spice made from the inner bark of trees known as Cinnamomum.  It is loaded with anti-oxidants, offers anti-inflammatory properties, and may reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and offers anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.

Not only does cinnamon help digestion, but it can significantly help control blood sugar levels to prevent type 2 diabetes. So this is a spice anyone can benefit from adding to their diet. I make sure I get the benefits of cinnamon every day by adding a few dashes of cinnamon into my high-fiber smoothies.

NOTE: Ceylon Cinnamon (known as the true-cinnamon) and Cassia Cinnamon (the most common variety found in supermarkets). Scientists recommend Ceylon Cinamon as the safest to consume in larger amounts as the supermarket (cassia cinnamon) can be harmful because of the coumarin content.

Vitamins and Minerals in Cinnamon;

  • Energy
  • Carbohydrates
  • Calcium
  • Magnesium
  • Potassium
  • Iron
  • Phosphorus
  • Vitamin A
